If you goto network connections you will see neither the wireless adapter nor the network adapter. When you click the wireless icon on system tray there isn’t any device listed in order for you to connect to the internet. If you open device manager you won’t see the network adapter tab. 

The network adapter driver is might be outdated or incompatible with the current operating system or simply corrupted these might be the reason for missing of network adapter. Have you recently made any changes to you computer OS like installing windows or updating from an old version of windows.

If yes, then you have to install the driver again. Most of the time when you update to a new operating system then the old drivers are incompatible.

So, the first thing you have to check the drivers, if drivers are outdated then install drivers again and your problem will be solved. And if your drivers are up to date then we have to troubleshoot the problem, just follow the listed steps.

Install/Update Network Adapter Driver 

First of all you have to open the Run by pressing Windows + R or by start menu > Run. Then in the empty box you have to type “devmgmt.msc” . It will open device manager. Now, find Network Adapter and click on it to expand the list, then search for the wireless driver and right click on it and then select Update Driver Software. From the options select the “ search automatically for updated driver software”. Now it will update automatically whenever it found any update online.

Ensure your windows new updates are installed

If you have updated to windows 10 in the past few days then it probably needs to install latest updates. You can check you windows is upto date or not by, Open Update & security. You can open it by pressing windows + I, and click Check for updates. Then the computer will automatically search for new updates and if it found any update available then it will update it automatically. After the updates are install then simply reboot your computer once.

Update Intel PROSet/Wireless software 

If you have installed the proper wireless driver for you computer and Also checked for windows update and the problem is still not resolved then you can try to update Intel PROSet/wireless software. Outdated driver is might be the cause for missing of network driver on windows 10.

You should go there to download the latest version of Intel PROSet/wireless software and install it on you computer. This software is quite useful to manage your wifi connections. If the latest version of this driver is not installed it can cause wireless network problem.

Use command prompt to troubleshoot the issue 

Open a command prompt window by pressing windows key + X and select Command prompt(admin)

Type ‘nectfg -s n’ command on the command prompt windows.

Then, it will display a list of networking protocols, then you have to look for DNI_DNE. If this is listed there type the command 

“ reg delete HKCR\CLSID\{988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3} /va /f 

netcfg -v -u dni_dne” 

If you don’t see the DNI_DNE listed then only this command 

“netcfg -v -u dni_dne”

And after that if you receive the error 0x80004002 while you run the above command then you have to delete the above key manually, you can do this by:

  1. Press windows key + R.
  2. Type Regedit and press enter.
  3. Find the following registry Key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3}
  4. Delete the key and then again type “netcfg -v -u dni_dne” command in command prompt.
  5. Reboot the device once to save the changes.

Run Network Troubleshooter 

If you have tried the listed ways to fix the problem that at last you can use troubleshooter, it is the program in which the machine itself troubleshoot the problem and Also gives you the solution to fix the problem. You can troubleshoot the network problem by right clicking on the icon of the network which is located bottom right corner of your screen. Then you have to choose the option troubleshooting problems and after that follow the onscreen instructions.

The troubleshooting the kinda best way to fix this problem, in this the system itself searches the problem and give you the instructions to resolve the problem. You can do that by just pressing windows key + W and type troubleshooting, then press enter. Now select “Network and Internet”.
